The Second Coming Was a Moonrise - Hammock (2026)

Heavy rains and scorching sun entangle in a contradiction unique to summer. With nowhere to escape the objective reality of the outside world, one can only retreat into the comfort zone between their ears.

The Second Coming Was a Moonrise is the latest album released this past May by the American post-rock duo Hammock. This time, they cast their gaze further afield, stepping away from the chaos of the present world to turn toward the natural transitions we so often miss, exploring a higher level of philosophical reflection.

The tracks feature their signature atmospheric textures alongside majestic, roaring walls of guitar sound. Every day, the moon rises from the sea, yet most people may never have the privilege of witnessing this sacred sight. In this album, you can close your eyes and feel the moonlight scattering across your shoulders and the dust particles around you, quietly and gently enveloping your heart.

where is my mice? - the three mice (2026)

Hailing from Shenzhen, the three mice are arguably the most exciting Chinese indie band to emerge in recent years. Their newly released debut album, where is my mice?, effortlessly drifts between fluid, captivating melodies and raw, abrasive guitar noise. The unpolished lo-fi texture combined with a headlong teenage angst exudes a youthful vitality long missed in the domestic music scene. Bluntly channeling the everyday confusion, loneliness, and marginalization of Gen Z through a self-deprecating lens, they have become the sonic spokespersons for the souls of this generation.

Stochastic Drift - Barker (2025)

Barker leaves the open plains of 2019’s Utility behind and loosens up on Stochastic Drift, pushing kickless techno’s outer edge toward a wider canvas.Probability, psychology, and synth glimmer recalibrate the music’s forward pull — composed on the surface, with an unusual give underneath.

Splintered percussion, frosted harmonies, and near-jazz turns settle into a kind of chamber music where chance finds its own order.
