▍Elephant Gym detail Busan appearance and plans for a 2027 album
Taipei Music Center announced on 1 October that Elephant Gym were scheduled to play Busan International Rock Festival the following day. The Taiwanese trio also outlined plans for a new album in the first half of 2027. Arranged through the centre's international musician exchange programme, the appearance follows the band's return from a 2025 hiatus. Their planned set included "Highway", which the musicians say uses sounds created live by the three members, their instruments and effects, without computer-generated audio. Topshelf had already announced that single in June; this week's update concerns the Korean appearance and the album plans.
▍Kabanagu release "Proto" with Shinoda and Naoto Nishiguchi
Kabanagu released "Proto" on 2 October 2026, with guitar by Shinoda of Hitorie, bass by Naoto Nishiguchi of Age Factory and mastering by Kentaro Kimura. A video directed by Naoki Takehisa accompanies the single. According to Spincoaster, the recording pairs a small instrumental line-up with a drum machine and appears on Kabanagu's third album, 図の図, due on 13 October. Also a member of PAS TASTA, Kabanagu works across songwriting and electronic production. The release follows the artist's second album, ほぼゆめ, issued in 2022, and brings musicians from two Japanese bands into the current solo project.
Ryley Walker released "Carrier" through AD 93 on 29 September 2026, announcing his arrival at the label alongside a video by Kendra Calhoun. In the accompanying publicity material, Walker explains that he rebuilt an abandoned phone recording of a guitar demo as a pitched-down loop, adding digital distortion in PPOOLL/Max/MSP. He developed the track after shifts at a service-industry job in New York. The guitarist's wider work includes collaborations with Charles Rumback and Steve Gunn, as well as playing with james K. The announcement offers a specific account of how guitar recordings and computer processing meet in this release.
▍Klein release the 12-track album my own fairytale
London musician Klein released my own fairytale on 28 September 2026, with all 12 tracks available through the artist's official Bandcamp. Its credits name Klein as writer, composer and performer, except for "siren reloaded", which Sasha Scott co-wrote and co-arranged. Klein also created the artwork. Pitchfork reports that the album was issued through her Parkwuud Entertainment label, continuing her work in composition and experimental music. The related viewing candidate is "man in the mirror", which appears on the album but had an earlier single release. The album's arrival should therefore be distinguished from the song's original release date.

▍Janice Laujan's Memory & Punishment concludes at GOLD
Memory & Punishment, a sound installation and durational performance by artist and DAVID BORING vocalist Janice Laujan, concluded at GOLD in Wong Chuk Hang on 3 October. Commissioned by Serakai Studio and co-curated by Aaditya Sathish and Tobias Berger, the exhibition opened on 22 August and imagined a "social garden" in which visitors could spend time with difficult memories.
Visitors removed their shoes to enter a purple, velvet-covered landscape, where touch and movement changed the sonic environment as performers moved through the space. The programme included guest interventions by Kelvin T, Nerve, Gold Mountain and Karen Yu, alongside a special DAVID BORING performance. Guest artists could take control of the installation's sound sources, mixing, adding to or subtracting from an hour-long looping score. Karen Yu was the guest artist on the closing-day programme.
Laujan conceived the work as a place where shame, grief and other unresolved feelings could be inhabited without an immediate demand for explanation or resolution. The project extended her exploration of these experiences beyond the band, through installation, bodily presence and sustained listening.
