Music This Week|Yoyo Sham releases "古董相機", A_Root announce Japan dates, and Geordie Greep responds to allegations

▍Yoyo Sham releases "古董相機", composed by waa wei

Yoyo Sham released "古董相機" on 15 October, inviting waa wei to compose a song for her for the first time. Wood Tung and Sham wrote the lyrics, while Joyce Cheung arranged and co-produced it with Sham. Recorded at Taipei's Lights Up Studio, the track features Cheung on piano, Teriver Cheung on acoustic guitar and Liu Hang on cello. Sham and wei previously sang together on "星期三或禮拜三"; their new collaboration places wei's melody within a song about an old camera and the memories held on film. An official music video is available. The single will also appear on Sham's planned Mandarin-and-Cantonese album, expected towards the end of the year.

▍A_Root announce Japan dates with Kiyomaru Togo and Supergoods in Tokyo

A_Root have announced Japan dates under the banner of their 10th Anniversary Asia Tour 2027. The Yilan band will play Music Lane Festival Okinawa on 24 January, followed by a headline show at Aoyama MoonRomantic in Tokyo on 26 January. Japanese artist 東郷清丸〇 joins the Tokyo bill as guest, with Thai soul/funk band Supergoods opening. Doors are at 7pm and music starts at 7.30pm; tickets cost ¥4,500 in advance or ¥5,000 on the door, plus a drink charge. A_Root work with traditional instruments and multilingual singing across alternative music. They also appeared on Fuji Rock's ROOKIE A GO-GO stage in 2026, ahead of this next run of cross-border dates.

▍Hedigan's announce a 100-ticket year-end show at Enoshima OPPA-LA

Hedigan's will play Enoshima OPPA-LA in Kanagawa on 18 December, continuing the year-end gathering they first held in 2025. Tickets went on sale on 16 October with a first-come, first-served allocation of 100, priced at ¥4,500 plus a drink charge. Doors open at 7pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm. The five-piece, featuring Suchmos singer YONCE, began releasing music with "LOVE (XL)" in 2023, followed by debut album Chance and EP doyes. They released "ハリネズミ" in August and took their self-organised AWAI vol.3 events to Tokyo and Osaka in September. The December date places their year-end event in Enoshima following those two-city appearances.

▍Seimei and Carpainter release joint double single Endless Rise / Submerge

Seimei and Carpainter released Endless Rise / Submerge through TREKKIE TRAX on 16 October. The two-track double single marks twenty years since the brothers first encountered dance music in 2006. Based in Tokyo and Yokohama respectively, they also helped establish TREKKIE TRAX in 2012. Seimei's production and DJ work spans techno, bass music, breaks and juke/footwork, while Carpainter has combined club releases with work beyond the dancefloor, including co-writing and co-arranging Daichi Miura's "EXCITE". The new release brings them together under both names, returning to a shared starting point in their musical lives. Both tracks are available digitally through the official Bandcamp page and streaming services.

▍Fontaines D.C. release fifth album Dopamine Chamber, featuring ROSALÍA

Fontaines D.C. released their fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, through XL Recordings on 16 October. Produced by James Ford, it follows 2024's Romance and contains eleven tracks, including the previously shared "Marianne" and ROSALÍA collaboration "Where Is Gone?" An official video for the latter is available on the band's channel. In the official album notes, singer Grian Chatten explains the title through the idea of a record as a room: listeners enter and encounter music intended to affect different moods or states of mind. The full album is now available through the band's official Bandcamp page; its tracklist opens with "Six Shot Morning", closes with "Intimate" and also includes "Mimesis".

▍Geordie Greep apologises as touring musicians speak out over allegations

Geordie Greep apologised on 14 October after a woman, identified by Paste as Laura, said he kissed her while she was asleep in Vancouver. She said she had not been raped and that flyers circulating at his 8 October show were distributed without her consent. Greep acknowledged kissing her but said he had not realised she was asleep. Keyboardist Cameron Campbell told Paste he had left the band; he heard her reaction and saw the aftermath, rather than witnessing the kiss. On 15 October, Exclaim! reported further statements condemning his conduct from his touring guitarist, bassist and drummer. This follows cancellations on his US tour.
